RSQ1 enhances recovery
and performance through advanced electrostimulation technology.
The RSQ1 is designed to stimulate or re-educate the neurological system . This precision technology, integrated with functional exercises, promoting the correct contraction and relaxation of muscles.
About the RSQ1
The RSQ1 is a CE marked electro stimulation device which has been developed as a medical device in 2013 in the Netherlands. The RSQ1 differs from other forms of electrotherapy by using a combination of 2 different currents (waveforms) and is designed in conjunction with functional excercises. (eccentric, concentric, isometric).
The RSQ1 combines a hardly noticeable high frequeny (10kHz) current with an adjustable 2 nd current (40-500Hz).
The intensity of the RSQ1 electrotherapy is significantly higher then other electrotherapy devices. The combination of the 2 waveforms makes this possible. It also allows to harness the benefits of direct current (DC) on tissue and the nervous system while eliminating the skin burns that historically accompanied the use of direct current. So using the best of both worlds of Alternate Current and Direct Current it makes the RSQ1 unique in Europe.

RSQ1 Advantages
Explore the unique features that set RSQ1 apart from the rest. From accelerated recovery to enhanced strength training, RSQ1 delivers a comprehensive suite of benefits designed to elevate your performance and well-being.
Support strenght training
The RSQ1 facilitates the recruitment of a greater number of motor units than can be voluntarily activated through conventional resistance training alone. By delivering targeted electrical impulses to muscles, electrotherapy effectively stimulates a wider array of motor units, thereby maximizing muscle engagement during exercise sessions. The unique combination of physical exercises with high-intensity electrotherapy offered by the RSQ1 enables the performance of eccentric contractions with greater efficiency. Eccentric contractions, characterized by muscle lengthening under tension, are particularly effective for building strength and muscle mass.
Support strenght training
Electrotherapy augments the effectiveness of eccentric contractions by providing additional stimulus to the muscles, thereby amplifying the benefits derived from these movements. One of the key advantages of integrating electrotherapy into support strength training is its versatility in accommodating various training modalities. Unlike traditional strength training methods that primarily rely on external loads (i.e., weights), electrotherapy allows for resistance to be applied directly to the muscles through electrical stimulation. This versatility enables individuals to perform strength-enhancing exercises with or without heavy external weights, making it suitable for individuals with diverse fitness goals, physical capabilities, and training preferences.
Prevention or mitigation of Atrophy
RSQ1 Electrotherapy serves as a valuable tool in preventing muscle atrophy, particularly in situations where individuals may experience prolonged periods of inactivity or immobilization. By delivering targeted electrical impulses to muscle fibers, electrotherapy helps to maintain muscle mass and strength, even in the absence of traditional resistance training stimuli. This proactive approach to mitigating atrophy is especially relevant for populations undergoing rehabilitation, injury recovery, or periods of reduced physical activity.
Recovery
Scientific research shows that high frequency electrotherapy results in a higher uptake of glucose. In our own study with the University of Amsterdam this was confirmed with a significant increase of 10% of the oxygen saturation in the Vastus Medialus. Following physical activity or injury, glycogen stores within muscle tissue may become depleted. Glycogen serves as a readily mobilizable source of glucose for energy production during exercise or recovery. Higher uptake of glucose facilitates the resynthesis of glycogen, replenishing these stores and ensuring that muscles have an adequate energy reserve for subsequent activity or recovery.Glucose is not only utilized for energy production but also serves as a precursor for the synthesis of biomolecules essential for cellular repair and growth.
Pain Management
In our knowledge center (available for our clients) you will find several studies that show electrotherapy, especially high frequency can have a positive effect on pain management and reducing muscle spasms. Electrotherapy, particularly utilizing high frequencies, offers a promising adjunctive modality for pain management and muscle spasm reduction. Through its multifaceted mechanisms of action, including gate control modulation, endogenous opioid release, muscle relaxation, enhanced circulation and neuromodulation RSQ1 electrotherapy presents a valuable therapeutic option with the potential to alleviate pain, improve functional outcomes, and enhance patient well-being.
Mobility, Increase Range of Motion and local blood circulation.
The input of energy bij the RSQ1 and/or the contraction of the muscles is a sign of activation for the body resulting in a higher blood circulation in the treated area. By increasing the blood circulation and active stretching of the muscles, you can increase the range of motion and relax from muscle spasms. Studies have shown that electrical stimulation applied to muscles can induce muscle contractions, leading to increased muscle fiber recruitment and improved muscle flexibility. By activating motor neurons and promoting muscle relaxation, electrotherapy helps reduce muscle stiffness and resistance to passive stretching, thereby enhancing ROM.
